Improving patient engagement: mClinica partners with Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society’s Young Pharmacist Chapter on upcoming symposium.

The Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society’s Young Pharmacist Chapter (MPS-YPC) will host its third annual Malaysian Innovative Healthcare Symposium on Saturday, 17th August. Looking towards the future of healthcare, symposium organizers aim to promote technology as a useful tool during a time of changing healthcare needs and emerging issues. mClinica is partnering with MIHS organizers to support young pharmacists in Malaysia and will be showcasing SwipeRx to attendees throughout the event.

Involving patients in their own care improves health outcomes

The theme of this year’s Symposium is improving patient engagement. Panels, competitions, and events that day will focus on how to retain patients and encourage healthy patient behavior during the healing process.

Panels will focus on enhancing patient engagement, with a diverse list of speakers from medical professionals to business leaders. The Symposium’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Feisul Idzwan Mustapha, whose work with the World Health Organization has focused on non-communicable diseases like obesity and diabetes. Dr. Mustapha’s speech will discuss how to connect with patients using digital tools, trying to involve patients more actively in their own care.

Idea-pitching competition will showcase innovative solutions

This year will be the first year that the Malaysian Innovative Healthcare Symposium hosts The Big “I” Competition for healthcare innovation. Teams of contestants compete by building tools and solutions to improve healthcare through innovation.

Held over several months, contestants submit proposals and posters discussing their entries to the judges. With only four finalist teams remaining, first and second prize winners will be announced on the day of the Symposium. Winning teams will be awarded a cash prize and mentorship from a partner organization, the Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre, also known as MAGIC.

The Innovative Healthcare Symposium will be held at Monash University’s Malaysia campus, and ticket sales are open to both members of the MPS-YPC and the public. Registration opens at 8:30AM the day of the event with the opening ceremony kicking off at 9:00am. Prizes for the Big I competition will be awarded during the closing ceremony at 3:05 pm.
